"M. P. Coventon - One of Baxter County's Oldest Citizens Died Sunday

M. P. Coventon, 94 years old, and one of the oldest citizens of Baxter County, died at his home at Colfax, four miles west of Mountain

Home, Sunday.

He leaves a wife and a number of grown children. The funeral was held at Gassville Monday afternoon at two o'clock, the services being

conducted by Rev. McCuistion and Rev. Burnett. A large cortege followed his body to the last resting place, friends and relatives coming

from all parts of the county.

Mr. Coventon was a splendid old man. He came to this county when a young man from Georgia, and has spent most of his life here. He was

a good Christian and no one in need ever went away without his help. He was a good father and a good husband, and his friends were

legion.

census in AR. Augustus Johnson's burial location is unknown.

Elizabeth had an obituary published in the Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, Baxter County, Arkansas, Friday, May 18,1934, page 1:

Elizabeth Johnson, one of the Baxter county's oldest pioneer citizens, died at her home at Gassville on Friday, May 11th. She was a

splendid character and played her part in the development of Baxter County. She was born in Alabama March 6, 1844, and was married to

Augustus Johnson during the Civil War. Three children survive her. They are Theodore Johnson, Dora Rild [sic], and Mary Barnett. She

united with the Methodist church in Georgia at the age of 32, and had been a consistent Christian woman all her life. She had 29

grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. She was a fine woman and was loved and respected by all who knew her. (Last updated:

He worked for 32 years in the United States Postal System and rose to the position of Director of Customer Services for the Muskogee

Regional Post Office. After retiring in 1982, he and Lillie spent much of their time traveling. They visited all 50 states and also made three

trips to see their son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons in Honduras, Central America. John was an active member of the First United

Methodist Church in Muskogee for over 50 years. He enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity and participated in the building of homes in

Muskogee and in Mexico.

He served as Muskogee Kiwanis Club President and was involved with the Kiwanis for many years. As a representative of the USPS, John

assisted the local Stamp Club in setting up first day issues. After Lillie's death in 1998, he married Cora McCoy. Cora and John enjoyed

each other's families and traveling together in the U.S. and abroad until John's health and eyesight began to fail in recent years. He was

preceded in death by his parents, John William and Dora Nelle (Johnson) Coventon, his wife of 51 years, Lillie and his sister, Martha Jo

Everyone who knew Wayne knew that he was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and peaceful person, and that he loved his family very much.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Mona Coventon and Harlin Coventon.

Wayne lived with cancer for the last year and half of his life. He battled the disease with the most amazing grace, bravery and strength. He

lived everyday with positivity and determination not to let the disease keep him from doing the things he loved.

Growing up in Ada, Oklahoma, Wayne formed strong attachments to the tight-knit communities he called home and eventually settled in

Edmond, OK. He graduated from Ada High School, Ada, Oklahoma. He received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Mathematics

from East Central University, Ada, Oklahoma.

He served as the Executive Director and CEO of the Oklahoma City Clinic from 1975-1995, and later served in executive roles as a

healthcare administrator until his retirement in 2012. He was recognized as a Fellow with the American College of Medical Practice

Executives. Wayne also served on numerous committees for the American College of Hospital Administrators, the Medical Group

Management Association, the Oklahoma Medical Group Management Association, Alliance Bank, and the Kansas Medical Group

Management Association.

His greatest joys were his family, golfing, and fishing, spending many happy afternoons on the course or on the water. Wayne was a strong,

Johnna attended Oklahoma State University where she majored in journalism and enjoyed two OSU victories over OU during her time there.

In 1969, Johnna moved to Tulsa and met and married her best friend, David Jackson. They enjoyed playing tennis and especially racing the

cars that David built. After 30 years as an executive vice president in the advertising industry, Johnna retired and took up golf. She and

David joined The Oaks Country Club where they played in many couples tournaments and enjoyed their new family of friends. Johnna was

very active in the OWGA (Oaks Women's Golf Association) and held every position on the Board.

She was president of the Life Senior Services Board of Directors and contributed greatly to their fundraising efforts. She was also known

for being very thoughtful and generous with her family, and always made sure there were mountains of gifts at Christmas.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, her mother, Lillie Grace and father John William Coventon. She is

survived by her husband of 42 years, David Jackson, brother Dan Coventon and wife Mary Lu, sister Lori Winkle and husband John, sisters-

in-law Vicki Jackson, Kathy (Jim) Louis, and Claudia (Patrick)

in August of 1974 to study Spanish at King's Way Missionary Institute, a language school in McAllen, Texas, as a response to God's call on

our lives to serve in missions in Latin America. In February 1976, we arrived in Honduras, Central America.

From the beginning, God clearly directed us that our mission was not to start new churches, but rather He was calling us to help strengthen

already established churches. We have been fulfilling that call ever since; serving first in San Pedro Sula and then in Gualaco, Olancho.

In 1982 we began working with Amor Viviente, a growing group of churches in Honduras. For twelve years we worked in Tegucigalpa, the

capital city of Honduras, where we played an active part in the integral growth of the Tegucigalpa congregation, not only in the main areas of

our ministry, but also participating at different times in other ministries wherever God opened a door for service (home groups, intercessory

prayer, Bible teaching, counselling, etc.). We have seen the church grow from 400 to more than 4000 believers and we have trained

leaders to continue with our local work. The church in Tegucigalpa has nearly 500 home groups throughout the city. Most new believers are

added to the church through home group evangelism; home groups being the back bone of church growth in all the Amor Viviente

congregations.

In 1982 we established the first Christian Print Shop in Honduras which has grown into the Interdenominational Christian Education Center

(ICEC), providing audio, video and printed teaching materials to churches throughout the country.

During our annual week of prayer and fasting in January 1988, the Lord spoke to us about starting a Christian Radio Station in Tegucigalpa.

For the next several months we worked and prayed to make this vision a reality. In early 1989 I left my work with the ICEC in the hands of

people I had trained and moved full-time into the position of Technical Director of our Radio station where I continued preparations for

getting on-the-air.

In June 1989 we took a step of faith by purchasing our equipment and in September our radio station license received approval. After

remodelling the studios and installing the equipment, we went on-the-air December 22, 1989. Difusora Cristiana de Radio (DCR) 940 kHz

AM, is a Christian station that reaches the one million people of Tegucigalpa with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Part of our vision was to establish stations in major cities of Honduras. In late 1992, two more stations were added: FM 103 in Tegucigalpa

and 1520 AM in San Pedro Sula, the second largest city in Honduras. In February 1994 our newest station, FM 104 signed on in the coastal

city of La Ceiba. I am the Technical Director of what is now known as "Sistema DCR", four Christian radio stations with well over two million

people in our listening area. It is important to note that, though I did all the planning and installation of these stations, the Amor Viviente

churches in Honduras financed them without outside help."

Dan and his wife Mary Lu were released into full time missions service by TCF in 1978, and have since served largely in Honduras, where

they have served in local church development though evangelism and discipleship, radio broadcasting, and a variety of other ministries. In

from Oklahoma State University and in 1981 graduated from the Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Tulsa, OK. In

1984 he began his medical practice in Augusta, IL and later expanded to LaHarpe. He was one of the founders of the Tri-State

Crisis/Pregnancy Center in Carthage.

Surviving are 1 daughter, Kari Matlock of Claremore, OK, 3 sons, Dennis Ray Coventon II of Longmont, CO, Matthew Barrett Coventon of

LaHarpe, IL and Christopher Michael Coventon of Bowen, IL, his mother Theresa Coventon of Yale, OK, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-

Services for Cora McCoy (Coventon), 90, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday in Rowsey Chapel at St. Paul United Methodist Church in

Muskogee. Cora was a beloved 4-6th grade teacher at Grant Foreman and Creek Elementary Schools for more than 30 years.

She loved travel, teaching the Bible, reading, and playing bridge. She was born in Clarinda, Iowa, grew up in the Midwest and Tennessee,

and received degrees from Iowa State University and Northeastern Oklahoma State University. She was a home demonstration economist

with Oklahoma Natural Gas. She came to Muskogee in 1961 and has been living at a memory care facility for the past three years.

She is survived by two children, Patrick McCoy and wife Rebecca of McKinney, TX., and Debbie Williams of Oklahoma City; four

grandchildren, Rachel Williams Chavez and husband Ernesto, OKC, Elizabeth Williams, OKC, Micah McCoy and wife Alice of

Albuquerque, and David McCoy and wife Molly of Shreveport; and two great grandsons, Mando Chavez and James Bonham McCoy.

Parents Jacob Butler Sullivan and Minnie Kendlen Sullivan; sister, June Vail; and husbands, Ernest McCoy and John Coventon preceded

Director of the Children's Ministry, which through dynamic evangelism and teaching grew to over 100 Bible Clubs ministering to two

thousand children weekly. In 1989 I left the Children's Ministry in the hands of people who had been with me almost since the beginning. I

then spent one year working in the new DCR radio station organizing and categorizing the music library.

Starting in 1990 I was the Director of Music Ministry at Amor Viviente, Tegucigalpa, emphasizing the renewal of praise and worship, and

street evangelism through Christian music. This ministry grew to include:

Praise and Worship teams, Christian bands, Vocal groups and soloists

The Lord provided numerous opportunities for us to minister in the church and outside of the church through:

Christian open-air concerts, Praise and Worship Seminars, Ministry through praise and worship in other congregations, The recording of

five Christian music cassettes which have spread throughout Central America

After twelve fruitful years in Tegucigalpa, we felt that the Lord was calling us to make a move and to work with the Amor Viviente

congregation in San Pedro Sula to assist in the establishing and edifying of that local church body. Dan continues as the Technical Director

of the four Christian radio stations (which requires much travel), but all our local service is poured into the San Pedro Sula church.

We have been in San Pedro since January, 1995. Our involvement includes praise and worship ministry, radio programs, teaching in

seminars and preparing teaching materials for use in our church home groups. As the San Pedro Sula church grows, we are looking

forward to the new challenges of service and ministry and invite you to participate with us through your prayers and giving. Your faithful
